A few of us met with The National Trust with a view to planning Nature Walks in our community. The National Trust manage the woodland along this bank of the River Eden. We were shown how trees had been felled to open the canopy so that wildflowers could flourish on the woodland floor and how some trees would be removed to prevent possible damage to the historic St Constantine Cells. Species identification was part of the walk. This was a preliminary meeting as we prepare to organise a guided Nature walk in these woods later this year. Hornbeam
